Go nuts for good health
Recent studies have shown eating a daily handful of nuts have impressive health and anti-ageing benefits. Check this list of the healthiest choices - all of which should be unsalted, unroasted and as fresh as possible.
• Walnuts – A great source of calcium, magnesium, zinc and folic acid. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids if eaten raw.
• Almonds – High in protein and calcium, as well as B vitamins, vitamin E and minerals, plus 70% of their fat content is the healthier monounsaturated sort.
• Macadamia nuts – Contain a variety of minerals and are rich in fibre and protein. Over 80% of their fat content is the healthiest kind, but they’re still higher calories than other nuts, so eat only a couple a day.
