Add Some Spice
Some herbs and spices have even more antioxidant power than fruit and vegetables.
Turmeric contains curcumin, which has been shown to block cancer-causing proteins. It also helps protect against Alzheimer's.
Cinnamon - Half a teaspoon a day can reduce blood sugar levels and may help lower levels of harmful blood fats and LDL cholesterol.
Ginger - Its active compound, gingerol, has been shown to inhibit cancer growth in animals and is an anti-inflammatory substance, so may help protect against heart disease.
Garlic makes blood less likely to clot. Just one clove a day could help reduce high blood cholesterol.
